Guide · Aotearoa

Luxury travel in New Zealand, planned properly.

Luxury in Aotearoa is not marble lobbies and gold taps. It is the lodge with eleven rooms instead of a hundred, the chauffeur waiting as you clear customs, and the cruise where the fiord feels like yours. This is how we plan it, and the stays and services we book again and again.

Queenstown - the country's luxury capital, and still best at golden hour.

01

What luxury actually means here

New Zealand does luxury differently from Europe or Asia. The five-star chain experience exists, but the stays people remember are the restored 1901 townhouse, the lakeside hotel with warm finishes and a restaurant worth staying in for, the country B&B on a working orchard where home baking arrives unasked. The country's scale works in your favour: nothing is more than a short flight from its opposite, and the best rooms are small enough to be requested by name.

That is also why an advisor earns their keep here. The difference between a good luxury trip and a great one is rarely the property - it is the room category, the timing, and the transfers nobody had to think about.

02

The stays we book

A short list, because we plan the places we know well enough to book from memory.

Braemar on Parliament Street, Auckland

A beautifully restored late-Victorian townhouse a short walk from Queen Street. Four rooms, generous breakfasts, and a host who treats the house as a home. For a city arrival that feels personal rather than processed, this is where we start.

Avani Queenstown

Avani's New Zealand flagship, on the road to the lake from the Frankton side. Clean lines, warm finishes, and Six to Midnight for breakfast through dinner. The base for a Queenstown and Fiordland leg done properly - see our Queenstown guide and our Milford Sound day trip guide.

Auckland Harbour Suites

Self-contained waterfront apartments with the harbour from bed. The low-effort luxury option for a city stay, and an easy first night after a long-haul arrival.

Waitomo Orchard Estate B&B, Otorohanga

A country estate on a working orchard, ten minutes from the Glowworm Caves and a world away from everything else. Luxury as quiet and space rather as thread count - and a 9.0 guest score to back it up.

03

Arrive like it matters

A luxury trip should start at the arrivals gate, not at the taxi rank. We arrange chauffeur transfers with BlackStone Chauffeur and Executive Private Transport with the driver tracking your flight, the meet & greet confirmed before you leave home, the car already cold in summer and warm in winter. For self-drive legs, rental cars through Ezi Car Rental and GO Rentals come with preferred rates for our clients.

04

The experiences worth spending on

Spend where New Zealand is genuinely world-class. A boutique cruise on Milford Sound, timed to miss the coach convoy - our Milford Sound cruise guide explains which operators and sailing times. A private charter in the Bay of Islands instead of the day boat. A glowworm cave with the lights off and the crowd gone home. And for the route itself, our South Island itinerary lays out the day-by-day drive we actually book for clients.

05

The upgrade angle

Most never ask. We do. Through direct relationships and quiet operator contacts we hold preferred rates at several of these stays, request the specific room, and time the booking so you are not paying peak prices for shoulder-season weather.
